Windows Update catches up with IE8

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

When I first installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta, I was only a little surprised to find that Windows Update did not work in IE8 mode. I had to keep switching to IE7 mode to update. However, after a few months of checking and switching, I became a little annoyed. I kept getting the “you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later” message. Ironic, I know!

The good news is that the folks at Microsoft have finally got it working… sorta… at least the important part. All the graphics and layout are broken, but it appears that the ActiveX control is working. Click on the thumbnail below to see today’s screen shot.
